We stock Temperature Sensors for many applications. Depending on how high the temperature is that you want to measure, will determine which Sensor you can select to use from our range.
For temperature measurement from minus -50 up to 200 °C, a PT100 RTD Probe would be recommended. PT100 RTD’s (Resistance Temperature Detectors) are very accurate and are a common input sensor type to be used with Temperature Controllers, Indicators and Data Loggers. Special custom RTD Probes can be made-to-order that will measure much lower than minus -50°C, and much higher than 200°C. But our stocked standard variety are limited within that range. RTD Probes use a Platinum Element and create resistance in its measurement. Most commonly, RTD Probes have 3-Wires. However, 4-Wire RTD Probs can also be custom made if required. No specific type of cable is required to wire up RTD’s.
For Temperatures above 200°C, generally we would recommend a Type-K Thermocouple Probe. Our stocked Stainless Steel Thermocouple Probes will measure right up to 1000°C. Although there are several Thermocouple Types (Type-K, Type-T, Type-J, Type-R, Type-S to name a few), Type-K is the most common, and they ones we tend to stock. DG Instruments can supply all of the others types, however they are typically custom made-to-order. Type-K Thermocouple Sensors are also a very common input type for most Controllers Indicators and Datra Loggers. Type-K is most commonly used with Handheld Digital Thermometers. We stock Handheld Thermometers with a variety of Hand Probes to suit different applications, including immersion for liquids, air temperature and surface temperature measurement.
Sliding Compression Fittings can be used with any of our Temperature Probes that have a Stainless Steel sheath. These fittings allow you to secure the Probe into your pipe or vessel with a Thread Connection. Various Thread sizes are available but most commonly we stock ¼” BSP/Tapered and ½” BSP/Tapered, in Brass or Stainless Steel. These fittings can be used with any of our Sensors that have a Stainless Steel Probe.
Other accessories that can be offered for use with our Temperature Probes include In-Line Plugs and Jacks, for quick connect / dis-connect when being changed out frequently.
We also stock Type-K Thermocouple PVC Extension Cable, which is the cable required when wiring up Thermocouple Probes to your measuring device. And Temperature Transmitters, for use with any of the Probes, when a 4-20 mA Analogue Transmitter signal is required.
